6-7 Days Samburu, Lake Nakuru and Maasai Mara

Head through the Great Rift Valley towards the famous Maasai Mara Reserve, stopping at Samburu National Reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park along the way. 

This tour samples 3 of the top areas in Kenya, and is an awesome combination of nature, wildlife, and history. Samburu National Reserve is a rugged and semi-desert park located in Samburu district in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. The park neighbors the homes of the Samburu tribe of Kenya, a tribe known for their remote culture, pastoral and nomadic way of life. See flamingoes and other water birds including a variety of over 450 terrestrial birds in Lake Nakuru. Then its on to the famous Maasai Mara Reserve for a chance to see the Big Five. 

Day 1: 

Nairobi - Samburu

At 07:30 am we depart Nairobi in the morning and drive south along the Central Kenya Highlands and arrive in Sarova Shaba Lodge in time for lunch. You can spend the afternoon swimming and relaxing before we set off for an evening game drive, your first taste of wildlife encounter.

Day 2: 

Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, we will depart for another morning game drive and return to the lodge for lunch followed by swimming, games, and relaxation. Late afternoon, we will set off for another game drive and watch the sunset over the reserve.

Day 3: 

Samburu - Lake Nakuru NP

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge and then head out for an early morning game drive on your journey (approximately 4-5 hours) to Nakuru town. Stop off at Nyahururu for lunch, enjoying the scenery along the way. After check-in at Sarova Lion Hill, we proceed on an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill.

Day 4:

Lake Nakuru - Maasai Mara

Enjoy breakfast and then check-out of the lodge. Experience a morning game drive as we travel approximately 3-4 hours to Maasai Mara National Reserve. Along the way you'll have a chance to stop and visit Lake Naivasha. Arrive and check in at Sopa Lodge for lunch; relax for a bit and then head out for an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.

Day 5:

Maasai Mara Full Day

After breakfast depart for a full day spent viewing the great predators and exploring the park's amazingly high concentration of wild animals. On the plains one finds enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs. Depending on the time of year, one may witness the Great Migration in full effect. 

There is also an optional opportunity to visit a Maasai village where one can partake in the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Day 6:

Maasai Mara - Nairobi

Rise early for your last game drive and then return to the lodge for one last breakfast overlooking the savannah. After checking out, it's time to head back to Nairobi, making a stop along the way for a BBQ lunch in the Great Rift Valley. Arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon.
