Maasai Mara (Masai Mara) is known as Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserve, situated in southwest Kenya. Perhaps most famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration where over a million wildebeest and zebras follow an annual migratory route from the Serengeti in Tanzania to Maasai Mara, Masai Mara also boasts an abundance of lions and the Maasai people, who are well known for their distinctive custom and dress. This park is, without a doubt, one of Africa’s most famous safari destinations.
This is the ultimate Kenya safari. We bring you to 3 top destinations in Kenya: Samburu, Lake Nakuru, and Maasai Mara Reserve. Samburu National Reserve, is a haven for elephant and predators like lion, leopard and wild dog and the birdlife is abundant with over 450 recorded species like vulturine guineafowl, lesser kestrel and the taita falcon; Lake Nakuru National Park is one of the smallest parks in Kenya but rich with attractions; finally, Maasai Mara National Reserve showcases the Big 5 and also jackals, warthogs, baboons, spotted hyena and many more.
This trip offers the opportunity to see the Great Migration in Maasai Mara as well. The Reserve is home to thousands of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, which make the phenomenal annual migration, known as the Great Migration. These herbivores migrate north from the Serengeti in about July and return south crossing the Mara River in November in search of water and fresh grazing.
This trip has it all! Nature lovers can explore many different habitats here ranging from the dried-up beds of Lake Amboseli, the woodlands of Lake Nakuru, and the savannah of Maasai Mara.
This 4-day safari takes you to Tsavo West and East National Parks and the Amboseli National Park. The slightly larger Tsavo East is generally flat, with dry plains across which the Galana River flows. Other features include the Yatta Plateau and Lugard Falls.
Tsavo West National Park, on the other hand, is more mountainous and wetter than its counterpart, with swamps, Lake Jipe and the Mzima Springs. It is known for bird life and for its large mammals such as the black rhino, cape buffalo, elephant, leopard, hippo and the Maasai lion. There are also other smaller animals that can be spotted in the park, such as the bush baby, hartebeest, lesser kudu and Maasai giraffe.
Amboseli National Park is in southern Kenya. It is known for its large elephant herds and views of immense Mount Kilimanjaro, across the border in Tanzania. Observation Hill offers panoramic views of the peak and the park’s plains and swamps.
This journey is sure to be THE journey of your lifetime, as you discover some of nature’s best-kept secrets in places that most wouldn’t even think of visiting!
